Leon

Hi,

As usual, I've been busy--just taking a break from my chores, hehe.
Anyway, for the story, I wanted to have an elder hero figure, someone our younger heroes can look up to. Someone who exemplifies bravery, exceptional battle skills, and unquestionable leadership.

Leon

Branded as “The Bastard son of Fon”, he was once Fon’s best general.  Leon has won countless battles against Fon's vast number of opponents. However, when a controversy about his lineage arose (it was revealed that his mother was from Iru, Fon's rival kingdom), and his family was disgraced. The King, at the order of the council, had no choice but to reluctantly banish him from the kingdom. Actually, he was secretly sent to Grael to become one of its guardians.

Updates and Klaw

Hi!

Apologies (especially to myself) for not having any updates. It's been a very hectic week at Melchman world. Our first game is already finished! But I can't reveal details about it in the meantime as we are still currently fielding bids from potential sponsors. I know--the suspense, it's killing me!

Anyway, let's continue with the character updates!

I'm really into team dynamics. I'm a fan of Justice League and the X-men. I really like it when team members with different backgrounds, morals, and opinions interact with each other. It brings out the best and worst in them, which later helps solidify their team. This is why I've decided to go with a team story rather than just having a lone wolf character. But if ever I had gone the other way, we would only have this guy.

Today we'll showcase Klaw. He's my Wolverine. I think every team has to have a Wolverine... Cyberforce has Ripclaw, Wild C.A.T.s have Warblade, heck, even Marvel's own Dark Avengers have their own Wolverine. Haha! I was talking about the claws. :-P

But seriously, character-wise it's fun to throw in someone who's against the norms for one reason or another. In a mission, Klaw is someone who gets the job done, no matter what it takes. It makes him look cool to the audience, to the annoyance of his team mates.

Here's a little back story:
Because of his emotional instability, Klaw was already able to manifest his Ultimate Beast form at a very young age. A group of rogue soldiers took notice of Klaw’s raw power and decided kidnap him. This group of ex-Fon and Iru soldiers did not support the wars waged by their respective kingdoms. Instead, they fight against what they believe is the true enemy of Serapi – the Dark Spirits. They use Klaw as their secret weapon; they beat him up or throw him towards the enemy so that he can transform into a beast and turn the tide in their battles.

When Klaw was old enough, he escaped the rogue soldiers and went to Dap for sanctuary. There, he was trained by monks to suppress his emotions and be in command of his beastial form.  Currently, he wears a monk’s cowl as a sign of his allegiance to their order and magical armor that controls his transformations. He is partnered with Leon as guardians of Grael.

That's it for now. Ikuzo!

F-F-F-Flashback Friday

Hi!

I just recalled an error that I've made in my very first post. I've stated there that Erwin's codename is "Laser". Actually back when we were in grade school, that was his codename, but he changed it to Lumitao because according to him, someone else already "owns" the name. Lumitao I believe is one of his characters.

I kinda ignored the next couple of sentences in his explanation, as I always do. So yeah... we'll never know, hehe.

Alright, so this is the part where you ask "What's up with 'f-f-F-Flashback Friday'?". C'mon, don't be shy. Ask it. (By the way, apologies for the logo, I just came up with that 5 minutes ago.)

...

Assuming that you have asked the question, I'll promptly give you the answer. Since Friday next week marks the eve of Erwin's death, I've decided to set Fridays as the day where we get to see some of the "cool" stuff that we've comed-up with in the past.

THAT, and Friday is the only day that starts with the letter F.

And today is Friday the 13th.

Oh yeah, and I have nothing to update for SD Prelude in the meantime.

ANYWAY, did you know that Silent Destiny is already 8 years old? Of course you don't, because we've kept it hidden from you for that long. In the past, we've been very proprietary of our creations so we keep them super secret from everyone. Obviously, that didn't go well, and we thought that we weren't going anywhere with that kind of mindset.

So here we are.

Presenting the very first Moon Raider illustration by Erwin Robledo (circa 2002):

In the Silent Destiny Onusa mobile phone game, Moon Raider had this description:
"No one knows for sure who this character is and how is he connected with the Onusa. The Silencer may meet him in a special occurence."

For now, we're going to leave it at that, but surely we'll be exploring more about him in the coming days.

Gotta finish our mini-game first.
Time to move forward. Ikuzo!

Character spotlight: Mica

Hi!

Our character spotlight for today features Mica, dominating mistress of the glittery crystals. Her power lies in the creation of perfect weapons out of mica which she sometimes electrically charges with her Agimat stones. She is the best friend and sister-in-law of Keya, Dark Priestess of Hor and mother of Yana. Her siblings are also empowered with abilities that produce minerals.

She prides herself with her perfect cleavage which she often uses to distract her opponents in battle.

Mica took on the role as Yana's guardian at Keya's request. She believes that her strong personality and crystal clear thinking will be able to help train Yana as the protector of their kingdom and future Dark Priestess.

In the game, she uses her powers to enclose the cards with mica stones as Yana uses her telekinesis to forcibly flip them around to reveal the Agimat stones.

The Story

Hi!

In my previous post, I've mentioned that we'll be featuring the characters of Silent Destiny Prelude today. However, I think it's best that we go through the story first. After all, what's a bunch of characters without a story?

Here we go...

In an alternate planet named Pangaea, the region of Serapi enjoys a time of peace. The warring kingdoms, Fon and Iru have decided a truce facilitated by the region's Chief Mage, Ingo, to allow the region to prosper.

However this has proved to be short-lived, as Ingo discovers the formation of the Onusa stars. The Onusa is an event that would determine the fate of the region, and it's current form shows that the region is in peril. This is evidenced by the sudden attacks of the Spirits of Serapi, mysterious beings that try to collect all the Agimat stones scattered throught the region. Their motives are unknown, but acquiring all the stones would mean magical imbalance that would bring them certain doom. He notifies the kingdoms of Serapi and summons Sepu, prince of Fon, Vell, prince of Iru, and Yana princess of Hor, to be trained in preparation of the coming event.

Above. The character designs drawn by Jomar Maravilla, kick-ass artist/animator classmate of mine from college. Rendered in Flash by yours truly.

They heed his call, and arrives in Grael, the region's central source of magic, only to find it under attack by  gigantic robot drill, apparently controlled by the Dark Spirits. This establishes our first episode.

Alright, with that out of the way, time to move forward with the characters! Ikuzo!

Episode 1: Arrival

Hi again!

Above. Cover of the episode 1 mini-game. Note that Grael is not seen here since it's supposed to be located behind the characters, plus I feel it may add clutter to the layout. Plus, the focus here should be the introduction of the characters to the player/viewer.

Today I'll give you a glimpse of the first episode entitled "Arrival". Well, as the name implies, this marks the arrival of the main characters to the central location of our story, Grael. Grael is a tower found at the heart of Serapi. This is where all the magic of the region is cultivated and then transformed into "Agimat stones".

Above. Processed Agimat Stones in Serapi. Colors and shapes may vary, depending on weider's specifications. For the purpose of our game, I needed to design them this way so that players can easily identify them apart from each other.

What? Did I say the magic word? "Agimat"? "AgimatAgimatAgimat"...

If you're a Filipino (just like yours truly), probably you'd feel that this piece of Pinoy folklore artifact has already been overexposed, thanks to all the fantasy telenovelas that's being shown by our local networks. Weeell, I think otherwise. I think the world still doesn't know what the full power of an Agimat is. Heck, I don't think even us Filipinos know its full potential, haha! So that's something we want to explore here.

However, I'd like to forewarn you: not all the information that we're going to use here are based on facts. I mean,c'mon, we're working on a fictional story here, so naturally we'll stretch reality somehow. But don't worry, we'll throw in a bit of researched tidbits here and there every once in a while.

ANYWAY, so just who are the characters of Silent Destiny Prelude, and what's their deal?
Find out in my next post!

Time to move forward! Ikuzo!
